From ballet beginnings to a bachata star

Gatica began dancing at just four years old, training in ballet at “The Norwegian Opera and Ballet.”

Her commitment to the art form continued until she was fourteen, when she transitioned to jazz and street jazz.

At fifteen,
she discovered salsa and instantly fell in love with the vibrant style, a passion that has stayed with her ever since.

Her dedication to improving as a dancer led her to Los Angeles in 2007,
where she explored and refined her craft.

In 2012, she encountered bachata for the first time, a moment that profoundly shaped her career.

Since then, she has worked tirelessly to develop her own distinctive style and technique within the art of bachata sensual.

Founder of Dance it-by Gatica

In 2014, Gatica founded her own dance school, Dance it-by Gatica, in Oslo, Norway.

The school quickly grew into one of the largest Latin dance schools in the country, gaining recognition as the “school of sensual dances.”

Here, Gatica has taught countless students, sharing her passion for connection and sensuality through bachata and other Latin styles.

Her ability to lead and follow with grace has made her a highly sought-after instructor, choreographer, and performer.

Women Movement: A global initiative

Gatica is also the visionary behind Women Movement -by Gatica, a project centered on empowering women in the dance community.

This initiative, focused on women supporting each other, has grown into a global network of teams embodying unity and encouragement. Gatica aims to inspire young women entering the dance scene, providing a positive example of strength, resilience, and artistry.

An international career of distinction

Since 2010, Gatica has performed at festivals worldwide, initially as a salsa artist and, after 2014, focusing predominantly on bachata. Her career includes choreographing for theaters, music videos, TV shows, and fashion events, as well as judging prestigious dance competitions.

Her work extends beyond performances and choreography, as she continues to teach and share her knowledge across the globe. Gatica is revered for her focus on connection in partner work and her ability to create magic on the dance floor with her elegance and technique.
