What to do in Rovinj
Rovinj is a beautiful city located on the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia.
It is a perfect place for people who love to explore new cultures and enjoy delicious food.
If you are attending a bachata festival in Rovinj, there are many things you can do during your stay.
Here are some of our recommendations:
Stroll along the Harbor
The small harbor of Rovinj is packed with fishing boats, small ferries, and batana boats (flat-bottomed boats used by the local fishermen). Plus, this is a nice spot to take a photo of the old town.
Wander the Old Town – In my opinion, this is the best thing to do in Rovinj
(of course, apart from dancing bachata)
These narrow, winding streets are fun to stroll and a blast to photograph. Along the way, go shopping at the small boutiques, have a coffee or a drink in one of the cafes, and search for hidden alleyways and steps down to the water’s edge.
Shop at the Farmer’s Market
Worth a quick look, this small market has vendors selling truffles, fresh fruits and vegetables, and even some souvenirs. This is the perfect place for a cheap, healthy snack to keep you fueled up as you tour Rovinj.
Climb the Bell Tower at the Church of St. Euphemia
For the best view over Rovinj and the coast, climb the bell tower. First, it’s an uphill walk just to get to the Church of St. Euphemia, which can be very hot in the summer months.
Then, it is a climb up 192 creaky steps to the top of the bell tower.
But it’s worth it for this view.
Plus, the breeze feels amazing and it’s so much cooler here than down on the city streets.
Bask in Rovinj’s finest sunset
Perched by the Church of St Euphemia atop the Old Town, Caffe Bar XL is the perfect spot for a bar.
Wicker chairs and wooden tables overlook fields, then the Adriatic beyond, streaked with amber beams of sunset if you find a spot at the right time of day.
Barba Danilo
Ulika Rovinj is an upscale camping complex just outside Rovinj, a short walk from the beach. Here, from March to October,
Barba Danilo is a gourmet corner that revives the restaurant that same family once ran before setting up this luxury lodging.
Meet Old Masters and modern locals
Founded by a group of local artists in 1954,
The Rovinj Heritage Museum houses Istria’s prime collection of Italian art from 1400s onwards.
Take a taxi boat to Red Island
Just off the coast of Rovinj, Crveni otok (‘Red Island’) is a handy and easy getaway from crowds thanks to a boat that heads out from town harbor every hour.
I hope you find these recommendations helpful! Enjoy your trip!🌴🌞
